STICKS AND STONES

One of the earliest sayings my mother taught me, along with The Golden Rule and also something about glass houses was “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Even at an early age, I knew to continue that phrase with, “unless I let them”.

The world of liberal, political correctness began a slippery slope of rules by edict which included letting words become a harmful thing that must be stopped (if they do not adhere to “our” way of thinking). PC police have been around long enough now that whole generations of Americans have never adhered to the notion that there is an inalienable right to free speech. Yes, they know it’s in the Constitution but apparently the Constitution is wrong when people say things that piss off the progressive base or anyone that simply does not like what he/she said.

It all seems to be coming home to roost this past week with the “words” conveyed by the patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” family. Plenty has already been said by hundreds of talking heads on every news organization on TV. I’m not going there. I’ll simply say he was naive to say those things in today’s PC world and he certainly does not interpret The Bible the same way I do. And, A & E can do whatever their contract gives them the right to do.  I don’t watch the show, not for any particular reason except I am not a fan of reality TV.

But . . . the root problem in the controversy is not what was contained in his sentences, it’s in another sentence that we have heard all week. And it usually starts with these words, “He should not be allowed. . .” or the other strange statement “He does not have the right . . .”.  Ironically, I heard a Fox News analyst last night say the following, “The Constitution protects the right of free speech, they just should not be allowed to hurt other’s feelings in the process”. What?? Who is THEY?  The government? Is he saying that we need a constitutional amendment to add a codicil to the First Amendment saying American’s do not have the right to hurt someone else’s feelings?

The simple fact is the First Amendment was not written to protect Americans when they say things other Americans like to hear. It was written to protect all Americans from illegal reprisals when another American says something they DO NOT like to hear. Another way of putting it is that the government does not have “the right” to make laws governing whether or not what you say is illegal.

Amazingly, in today’s America, we have even gone past that and made it illegal to even think things that may be hurtful to others. “Thought policing” is everywhere and a very dangerous slope in itself. But I better not go there now and wrap this up.

I only hope that we American’s begin to come to our senses soon before the old saying is changed to something like “I’ll break your bones with sticks and stones if your words begin to hurt me”.

WHAT RIGHT DO WE HAVE?

All day long we are barraged by the Liberal talking point that we have a “Right” to healthcare. Usually, the implication right after that is that Obamacare is going to provide that right.

Let’s reflect back a few years, shall we? “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

This is one of the best-known sentences in the English language containing the most potent and consequential words in American history. It represents a moral standard which the United States has always adhered to. The Declaration of Independence is a statement of principles through which the United States Constitution was written to protect. And it does just that. However, nowhere in the Declaration or the Constitution is there any statement or reference to a “right” to another person’s portion of their own life.

So there you have it. None of us have a “Right” to healthcare. Why? Because . . . any time we receive care for our health issues, someone else is providing that care. They are taking their time to tend to our problems. Doctors pay to go to college, pay for their offices, their malpractice insurance and maintain their equipment, all to ply their trade. Now, Liberals are saying that we have a right to demand that they use their property and time to care for us when we are sick. What if one of those doctors decided to be a home builder instead of enter the healthcare profession? Do we have a right to demand that he or she build us a house? No person, and especially no government, has a right to force one person to give up their time, their money or their own rights to satisfy the needs of another person. Period!

This is the mantra of the Left, used to slowly chip away at all of our rights and build a government so large and so powerful that eventually even the rights that we do have “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” are no longer unalienable. They are, instead, dictated to us by our own government.

For me, it is more than worrisome; it’s downright scary that so many people in this once great country have no problem trampling the rights of their neighbors. Welcome to our new socialist, progressive, communist, liberal country.

REMEMBERING ME

I’m celebrating another birthday this weekend. Well . . . celebrating may not be the word. We celebrate our 16^th when we get our driver’s license and our 21st when we drive to the bar. But this is 65. I do have that strange feeling of  “Whew! I made it.” I expected that I would not be looking forward so much to things ahead. But, I have two beautiful grand kids and, I have just recently been given an opportunity to be a part of a new business with a bright future. For that I am very grateful

The other thing that tends to happen when you reach these high numbers on you birthday cards is a desire to look back over your life. And . . . that’s exactly what I have been doing lately. Here are a few highlights.

I remember when I was 5 and there was politics on TV. I understood somewhat about the elections and I asked my sister who she thought would win the presidency. She said “Everyone knows it will be Eisenhower.” If everyone knows that, I thought, why bother with the election?

I remember Saturday morning TV. Fury, Sky King and The Lone Ranger. How cool was that?

I remember when I was 7 my family’s retail store burned down. Till then, I didn’t know my dad could cry.

I remember when I was 8, Khrushchev telling us he was going to bury us. That’s when I first learned that people hated free countries.

I remember when I was 9, lighting the ends of my sister’s Tampax and throwing them out an upstairs window. Hey . . . they looked like firecrackers to me. They were all duds.

I remember at 15 watching the flag on the courthouse building drop to half-mast because our President had just died.

I remember at 16 taking driver training and soon after we got our licenses, two of my good friends, one who was in driver training with me, died together in a terrible crash.

Every time I think back to my first love, I smile. She was like the perfect first girlfriend a guy could have asked for. And yes . . . I messed that up.

Then I remember (confession time) using my uncle’s influence to slip me into college early to stay out of the draft.

The rest of my years I spent as a grown-up. There have been happy times, sad times, tough times, glorious times and tragedies. Would I change some things? Of course. Everything? No way.

All in all, I think my life-long friends and family have been my greatest gift. And now, I am going over to my family’s home (grand kids included) to celebrate . . . well yes celebrate, who I am and where I am in my life.

No doubt a few Facebook pictures will soon follow.

 

"AS YOUR PRESIDENT . . . ."

Absolutely no one has asked me the question, “If you were President Chuck, what would you propose we do to make health care more affordable in America?” So I will ask it for me. And here is my answer.

Glad you asked that question, Chuck. I am not surprised you asked, considering you have seen me continually look deep into the bowels of the beleaguered American who is trying to keep up with their health care costs. Let me enumerate:

1. I would institute “Tort Reform”. “But Chuck, I’ve heard that phrase for decades. What does it mean?” In legalese, a tort is considered a civil wrong. In other words, someone is suing someone else for causing them bodily or monetary or mental harm. In the case of healthcare, it usually means a person who is suing a doctor or a hospital for malpractice. The problem is, the awards by insane courts and jury’s have gotten so large that it has drastically raised the healthcare provider’s cost of doing business. This single item is putting such a strain on the economics of healthcare that, if it were controlled, insurance premiums would drop like a rock.
2. I would encourage states to allow outside insurance companies to sell in their state. Why? Because state governments, at the behest of lobbyists, enact insurance mandates requiring all plans in a state to cover, say, acupuncture or fertility treatments. Insurance mandates can raise the cost of premiums by 30-50 percent. If you could buy insurance from another state, where regulations are less onerous, you might not be forced to buy a policy with coverage you don’t need or want. Forced competition is never a bad thing. Again, a significant drop in health insurance costs would be the result.
3. I would institute a “Pool” for uninsured people who have a serious preexisting condition. Not all preexisting conditions would be covered. Why? Because we are trying to make health insurance affordable for everyone. If a person can simply wait until they get sick and then buy insurance, the insurance companies would fail under the financial weight.
4. I would revamp the FDA. Their problems? Too slow to allow drugs to come to market and too fast to slap more restrictions and regulations on drugs, hospitals and doctors. The result? High drug prices. Of course we need to make certain new drugs are safe, but there is a huge, burdensome overreach caused by political maneuvers with drug companies. The American consumer ultimately pays for the game-playing.

That’s it Chuck. “That’s it?” “Will those things really make that much of a difference?”  With absolutely no research or data to back me up, I would say that addressing those four items intelligently and implementing them sanely, would easily cut insurance premiums in half.

And now . . .as your President, I’m going to hop on Marine One and head out to Pebble Beach for a quick round.

IT'S CRIMINAL

I have stayed relatively quiet on ObamaCare in my blog pages because I was a health insurance agent for many years and I didn't want to sound like a know-it-all.

But now . . . I just can’t keep quiet.

Here’s the deal. Obama’s strategy was to vilify the health insurance industry in nearly every speech he gave touting the virtues of Obamacare. He knew that people blamed the high cost of health insurance on the insurance companies. It is a simple knee-jerk reaction to a much more complicated issue. He actually had a majority of Americans conned into thinking that he was smarter and a better businessman than health insurance companies that have been doing this for decades. When, in reality, he is nothing more than the equivalent of a crooked agent selling promises that can’t be delivered.

In the business of health insurance, the vast majority of outside agents and brokers are honest, fair and willing to do what it takes to fit an insurance plan around their client’s needs and abilities to pay. It is in their best interest since they are routinely scrutinized by the State Insurance Commissioner’s Office. Agents are schooled, tested and trained in serving their clients with honesty and respect. However, there are bad apples in every business and it’s no different in the insurance industry. When you are dealing with a general public that is only moderately aware of how health insurance works, what an agent tells you needs to be the truth. Barack Obama is the epitome of a dishonest insurance agent. The practice of omission of facts and/or “twisting” by an insurance agent is not only cruel, it is illegal. Yet, Obama has become Master of the “bad agent syndrome”. Now the truth is coming home to roost and Americans are in “sticker-shock”.

Maybe this will help the perspective just a bit. There is a, not too hard to figure out, reason why insurance companies do not cover “preexisting conditions”. It is a guaranteed loss for the company. If you were foresighted enough to purchase insurance before you needed it, how would you feel if the agent explained that some people are not that foresighted and your premium is going to have to go up significantly to cover those people or our company will go out of business and you will lose your insurance?

Obama looks like a hero (today) for forcing insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. Now the bill is due.

Pay up America.

DECEMBER 22, 2012, PART DEUX

It was practically being shouted from the rooftops. The world, as we know it, would end on December 22, 2012. But that date came and went without even a whimper. We now have a new date looming that will certainly change everything. Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

So, how will it really affect us? I’m guessing Americans who's only votes are for reality show contestants feel that it has nothing to do with their lives. Others, often interviewed by Jay Leno and other “Man-On-The-Street” interviewers feel that, as one of those interviewees recently said, “Free Obama insurance? Hell yeah I’m in favor of it!” It’s about time someone else paid for my medical bills!” But, for the rest of us, it seems a good idea to review the pros and cons of this sweeping legislation that is certainly going to change every American’s lives as it relates to government.

I am not going to list them here. That’s what Google is for. I am however, going to point to one example of the insipid senselessness of the totally misnamed “Affordable Care Act”.

To become an insurance agent in any state in the U.S., you have to go through a detailed training course and take a rather difficult exam. After that, each agency has their own training process to insure that each agent is well versed in their products as well as the laws, including contract law, to insure that each policyholder has someone they can depend on to fairly and accurately answer all their questions. It doesn’t always work out perfectly but it is the best formula for the industry.

That is going to change rather abruptly. Under Obamacare, we will now have “Navigators” to advise insured citizens as to their insurance needs. So what is a “Navigator?” Under Section 1311 of the new law, hundreds of millions of dollars are being poured into such upstanding organizations as Community Activist Groups, Labor Unions, Civil Rights Groups, Immigration Rights Groups and other ”Progressive” organizations to hire “Navigators” to walk Americans through the health exchanges. What could go wrong, you ask? Well . . . consider the fact that these people will be going through NO background checks, they will have direct access to all of your data including social security numbers, addresses, personal health information and financial accounts. These are not insurance agents. They are not even federal employees! They are people hired literally “off-the-street” and they are supposed to match the ethnic characteristics of the people they are advising. I guess the thinking is that only an Asian off the street can advise an Asian on their health insurance needs. So . . .if a person just got out of prison for identity theft, they can get hired as a Navigator and if they get caught stealing your identity, the law says that that is wrong but there is no penalty in place to protect us. They can just keep doing their job. But . . .”Please stop stealing identities.” 

Remember earlier when I mentioned that this is one example? Go ahead, start Googling. But I caution you, your head just might explode. Which is pretty much what they were warning us about on December 22, 2012.

A FUNDAMENTAL SLIDE INTO SOCIALISM

When I was in my second year of college in 1968, I decided to attend a meeting of the Students for a Democratic Society. Like most students and many Americans, I was fed up with the Viet Nam war and I had heard that they had fresh, new ideas for America. I went in to the meeting to learn and possibly join the group. I came out shaken by what I heard. Although the organization only lasted for another year, their philosophy and goals have not only endured, but have successfully entrenched themselves into the American mainstream.

My guess is that there were about 100 students in the auditorium that evening. I remember there were four speakers and a slide show. The title of the meeting was “Transforming America from Within”. I took notes but I’m pretty sure they went to the trash bin of my college career when I graduated.

From the beginning, they made no excuses for being primarily influenced by Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin. They were against the Viet Nam war, not because it was killing American boys at an alarming rate, but because it was a war against Communism. To them it was a futile war because they, the Socialist – Communists in the U.S. had compiled a strategy to transform America from a Democracy to a Socialist state and do it from within. We were encouraged to read articles from Tom Hayden and Saul Alinski along with older Communist Party USA books from the 40’s and 50’s. I never bothered back then. However, when Barack Obama stated in his first campaign that he was going to “fundamentally transform” America in his presidency, I was certain that I had heard those words before. So, I did some very overdue homework that the SDS assigned me 45 years ago. My general conclusion is that they have done a marvelous job in the fundamental transformation business ever since.

Below are just a few of their stated goals.. See if you recognize any of them in America today.

Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Gain control of all student newspapers.

Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, and policy making positions.

Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use “united force” to solve economic, political or social problems.

When you think about it,  this kind of reads like Valerie Jarrett’s “To Do” list.

What You Don't Know About Benghazi

 "Here is my story. A week out the Embassy in Tripoli began receiving multiple tips about an Al Qaeda cell in the area planning an attack on 9/11 in response to the killing of Bin Laden. For the next several days, the State Dept. and WH (White House) were asked for a security force and were denied at least six times. Ambassador Stevens and his team were given the all clear that the consulate in Benghazi was safe and there was no need for a security force other than his 3 personal guards (One being my cousin) and a few Libyans who were not armed.
Then the attack and murders occurred. Immediately the WH claimed it was a protest gone bad over a you tube video. Obama made a quick speech in the Rose Garden on Sept.12 before catching a plane to Vegas to campaign. He made a generic statement at the end of his speech after placing the blame on an overheated protest over the video. He said "No act of terror will shake the resolve of America. Later that day and over the next 2 days, the liberal media began saying Ambassador Stevens and the other 3 men died of smoke inhalation.

 

This was not the case. Out of respect for my cousin, I'm not going to be specific about his murder. However,  Ambassador Stevens was brutally murdered. His genitals were cut off, he was sodomized and beaten and cut and stabbed and burned. He was drug thru the streets and left for dead. This is eyewitness testimony of a local doctor who found the ambassador in a ditch and tried to save his life. He had no idea who he was. The other 3 men, including my cousin, met similar fates. And deaths due to smoke inhalation is a 100% fabricated LIE.

 

The next week I drove my aunt and uncle and 2 others to DC to receive his body. We met with Hillary, Panetta, and Susan Rice. ALL of whom apologized and said it was a protest gone bad over a video and exited the area. Next Obama entered with the same  story and didn't apologize and wasn't sympathetic. My aunt cried to this man and all he did was hand her flowers and walk away. I tried to get his attention, but didn't. I got upset and yelled liar to him, he kept walking. Then a secret service agent grabbed my arm and led me to a room where I was held till the proceedings were over.
America, I saw firsthand how cold this man is. What kind of liar he is.  So many American's haven't a clue about this tyrant. These murders and the "fast and furious" cover ups make Watergate look like a kid who told his best friend's secret to the class.
We must stop this man, and please pass this story along.

The news has been full of the attacks on our embassies throughout the Muslim world, and in particular, the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others in Benghazi, Libya. However, there's a little known story of incredible bravery, heroics, and courage that should be the top story.
So what actually happened at the U.S. embassy in Libya? We are learning more about this every day. Ambassador Stevens and Foreign Service officer Sean Smith, along with administrative staff, were working out of temporary quarters due to the fact that in the spring of 2011 during the so-called Arab Spring, the United States cut ties with then president Moammar Gadhafi. Our embassy was looted and ransacked, causing it to be unusable. It is still in a state of disrepair.
Security for embassies and their personnel is to be provided by the host nation. Since Libya has gone through a civil war of sorts in the past 18 months, the current government is very unstable, and therefore, unreliable.
A well-organized attack by radical Muslims was planned specifically targeting the temporary U.S. embassy building. The Libyan security force that was in place to protect our people deserted their post, or joined the attacking force. Either way, our people were in a real fix. And it should be noted that Ambassador Stevens had mentioned on more than one occasion to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that he was quite concerned for his personal safety and the welfare of his people. It is thought that Ambassador Stevens was on a "hit list".
A short distance from the American compound, two Americans were sleeping. They were in Libya as independent contractors working an assignment totally unrelated to our embassy. They also happened to be former Navy Seals.
When they heard the noise coming from the attack on our embassy, as you would expect from highly trained warriors, they ran to the fight. Apparently, they had no weapons, but seeing the Libyan guards dropping their guns in their haste in fleeing the scene, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty snatched up several of these discarded weapons and prepared to defend the American compound.
Not knowing exactly what was taking place, the two Seals set up a defensive perimeter. Unfortunately Ambassador Stevens was already gravely injured, and Foreign Service officer Sean Smith was dead. However, due to their quick action and oppressive fire, twenty administrative personnel in the embassy were able to escape to safety. Eventually, these two courageous men were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers brought against them, an enemy force numbering between 100 to 200 attackers which came in two waves. But the stunning part of the story is that Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty killed 60 of the attacking force. Once the compound was overrun, the attackers were incensed to discover that just two men had inflicted so much death and destruction.

As it became apparent to these selfless heroes, they were definitely going to lose their lives unless some reinforcements showed up in a hurry. As we know now, that was not to be. I'm fairly certain they knew they were going to die in this gun fight, but not before they took a whole lot of bad guys with them!
Thank you, Tyrone and Glen. To the very last breath, you both lived up to the SEAL Code. You served all of us well. You were courageous in the face of certain death.
And Tyrone, even though you never got to hold your newborn son, he will grow up knowing the character and quality of his father, a man among men who sacrificed himself defending others.

BIG BROTHER GOES LIVE IN SEPTEMBER

In its April cover story, Wired has an exclusive report on the NSA’s Utah Data Center. “A project of immense secrecy, it is the final piece in a complex puzzle assembled over the past decade”. Its purpose is to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world’s communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails. Parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital “pocket litter” are no exception. The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September of this year. Virtually anything one communicates through any traceable medium, or any record of one’s existence in the electronic medium, which these days is everything, will unofficially be property of the US government to deal with as it sees fit.

The code name of the project: Stellar Wind. As Wired says, “there is no doubt that it has transformed itself into the largest, most covert, and potentially most intrusive intelligence agency ever created.”

But “this is more than just a data center,” says one senior intelligence official who until recently was involved with the program. The mammoth Bluffdale center will have another important and far more secret role that until now has not been revealed. It is also critical, he says, for breaking codes. And code-breaking is crucial, because much of the data that the center will handle—financial information, stock transactions, business deals, foreign military and diplomatic secrets, legal documents, confidential personal communications—will be heavily encrypted. According to another top official also involved with the program, the NSA made an enormous breakthrough several years ago in its ability to crypto-analyze, or break, unfathomably complex encryption systems employed by not only governments around the world but also many average computer users in the US. The upshot, according to this official: “Everybody’s a target; everybody with communication is a target.”

In the process—and for the first time since Watergate and the other scandals of the Nixon administration—the NSA has turned its surveillance apparatus on the US and its citizens. It has established listening posts throughout the nation to collect and sift through billions of email messages and phone calls, whether they originate within the country or overseas. It has created a supercomputer of almost unimaginable speed to look for patterns and unscramble codes. Finally, the agency has begun building a place to store all the trillions of words and thoughts and whispers captured in its electronic net. And, of course, it’s all being done in secret. To those on the inside, the old adage that NSA stands for "Never Say Anything" applies more than ever.

Given the facility’s scale and the fact that a terabyte of data can now be stored on a flash drive the size of a man’s pinky, the potential amount of information that could be housed in Bluffdale is truly staggering. But so is the exponential growth in the amount of intelligence data being produced every day by the eavesdropping sensors of the NSA and other intelligence agencies. As a result of this “expanding array of theater airborne and other sensor networks,” as a 2007 Department of Defense report puts it, the Pentagon is attempting to expand its worldwide communications network, known as the Global Information Grid, to handle yottabytes (1024 bytes) of data. (A yottabyte is a septillion bytes—so large that no one has yet coined a term for the next higher magnitude.)

Grandma's Watching

Most clear-thinking Americans are now beginning to believe that the Obama Administration is inherently corrupt. His Department of State and Department of Justice are in lock-step with him on cover-ups from “Fast and Furious” to Benghazi. These two items are so out there in the open, it is hard to find a “whatever it takes to keep him in office” Liberal who is willing to even discuss those issues.

However, this entire subject is what the phrase “Tip Of The Iceberg” was coined for. You need not look too far beneath the surface to come to the scary conclusion that this is a very massive iceberg.

In the interest of brevity and still make a solid point, I decided to pick just one example of something that will probably remain obscure but  bring out a glowing illustration of the wide swath of dirty politics and downright corruption this man and his henchmen (and woman) have cut through the fabric of America.

The topic is voter fraud. We all know they did it. There are the overt examples from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado and on and on. But here is an example of one of the many hundreds of ways it was pulled off.

From the time Obama took office, an unholy alliance has developed between the Department of Justice and the ACLU. Now, to most Americans, it would seem to go without saying that the role of the DOJ should be to protect voter integrity, not join with radical leftwing groups in trying to undermine it. But remember, this is the Obama Justice Department, with Eric Holder as its chief – a man so disdainful of basic security measures and legal protection to ensure free and fair elections that he has become a regular on Judicial Watch’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” list.

In Florida, a lawsuit in early 2012 was brought against the State because it was proven that Florida had an amazingly high rate of ineligible voters on the registration roles. Florida immediately went into action to attempt to clean up the problem. Wait just a minute there Mr. Sunshine State! “Not so fast,” said Eric Holder. The DOJ, with the help of the ACLU, then followed with its own lawsuit on June 12, 2012, asking a federal court to enjoin the state from taking steps to inquire about the presence of non-eligible aliens on voting rolls. It all came to a screeching halt and thousands of illegal votes were cast for? Now wait! Think about it . . . Right! Barack Obama.

From the very top of the federal government down to the liberal grassroots, there seems to be a general acceptance that breaking the law to keep Obama in the White House is perfectly OK. A brand new case-in-point just reared its ugly head yesterday when it was revealed that the IRS was targeting Tea Party members for tax audits. The Tea Party??  In every picture I have ever seen of a Tea Party rally I never saw a person that looked like he or she did not pay their due in taxes to the federal government. Most of them look like someone’s grandma or grandpa. What are the Libs so afraid of?

Of course, when we were kids, the last person you wanted mad at you was your grandma or grandpa. Then you knew you did something really wrong.

I rest my case.

You Get What You Vote For

I watched some of Dana Perino's interview with Bush 43 the other night.  It was not long into the dialogue that I heard those four words that Bush espouses nearly every time he gets to a microphone.  "Stand by your principals."  When asked how he would best describe his success in his presidency, he fell back on those words, "I stood by my principals".  OK . . .I get it.  Bush was principled.  It sounds good on the surface.  He has a set of principals that he lives by.  In fact, it seems we should feel good when a presidential candidate assures us that he will stand on his principals.  Usually, we do feel good.  So why does it bother me when I realize that Barack Obama has a set of principals that he also stands for?

Considering the virulent press Bush received and the even more difficult liberal congress, he was able to accomplish quite a number of things that he set out to do  based on his principals.  He stood strong against partial-birth abortions, he signed two income tax cuts, he increased small business incentives creating a hiring frenzy.  He also changed the tone of the White House back to one of honor and dignity and launched an initiative to combat AIDS in Africa that has saved millions of lives.  However, he also stood on principal when he outlawed stem-cell research based on his religious beliefs.  And was he being principled when he signed nearly every spending bill the democrats sent him from Congress?

And so it goes . . . We seem to have yet another principled president in the White House.  Obama sticks to his principals nearly to the letter.  Problem is, from Obamacare to immigration, from his world apologies to redistribution of income, his principals are nearly all wrong for America.  He even voted against the Infanticide Bill.  Really . . .?  What kind of person would do that?  Most of his principals more closely resemble Lenin or Mussolini than any American president.

When I think about it, we never should just vote for principled individuals. We should find out what the candidate's principals are and make decisions as to whether or not those principals spell disaster for our country.

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Johnny's Dilemma

Johnny was a pretty good kid. He usually did what he was told and his parents knew he could be trusted. They let him carry his own wallet with his allowance and lunch money because they knew he would not spend it on frivolous things. At twelve years old, Johnny was just beginning to reason things out for himself. He began to get resourceful and save just a little bit of his allowance for unforeseen needs and wants. Maybe he would soon be able to buy one of the little model airplanes that his best friend builds and sells to the other neighborhood kids. Although his holdings were meager, it was his money. He would pull weeds in his mom’s garden, vacuum the living room and stairs and gather the trash and take it to the curb each week. Johnny did as much as he had time for to continue to earn, save and spend his money according to his needs.

Then one day, while out on the playground, several boys were comparing their billfolds. Johnny was especially proud of his because he made it himself. It was real leather with tight nylon stitching and an embossed likeness of The Lone Ranger on the side. Just as he was holding it out for all to see, the playground bully snatched at his wallet and it dropped to the ground. Several dollars fell out and began to blow lazily around the children. The bully knocked Johnny out of the way and grabbed all the money he could get his hands on. “What are you doing with all this money?” he blurted. “That’s my money! Johnny shouted, please give it back.” “Why do you have more money than the rest of us?” the bully complained. Johnny said he earned it and saved it in case he needed it later. So the bully went on to explain that it was not fair that Johnny had so much money and that there were other kids that did not have that much money and that he, the bully, was going to take it and redistribute Johnny’s money to the rest of the kids. Of course, bully’s being what they are, he took the money all right, but he kept most of it for himself and played more golf and went on expensive vacations and continued to extort money from . . . .oops. I got carried away with my metaphor.

I realize I’m being obvious in this example but that is my intent. It is SO obvious what the bully, Barack Obama, is doing in his redistribution nonsense. He is in his fifth year of “redistributing” wealth to the poor and less fortunate. So . . .are they better off with rich people’s money? I don’t think so. Well then, where are all those extra dollars confiscated from America’s earners, savers and purchasers of goods and services? The vast majority of those dollars are resting in the coffers of the Federal Government. How else could he afford to amass the largest growth spurt of the U.S. Government in history? When a man’s dog-keeper is making $100,000 a year, paid through confiscated money of hard-working Americans, it just might be time for the country’s collective light bulb to go on and we all say WTF?!

I think this is where I’m supposed to offer an answer to the problem. The answer passed us by last November. There are still far too many people out there that think Obama is being truthful and that Socialism is a much better way to run a country. The fact is, Obama is lying to them and they are lying to themselves and with Obamacare about to slam this already teetering economy in the shins, I’m feeling that the Kool-Aid has already been swallowed. All we can do is wait for the effects of this poisonous scourge to take hold.

A stronger Congress would have helped. But we will never get that again without term limits. A Supreme Court that makes rulings backing up the Constitution, rather than their political leanings, would be a refreshing change of pace. And certainly a President that simply upholds his Oath of Office would suffice, for now. Our system of “Checks and Balances” can never work when all three branches are completely off-balance.

And so it goes . . . Bloggers continue to blog, talking heads continue to talk and Washington continues to take us down a road we have never traveled before.

Maybe we should ask ourselves, “What would Johnny do?” Would he continue to let the bully confiscate his earnings as the school year winds on? Would he just quit helping his mom with the chores? I doubt it. Remember, he’s pretty resourceful. My bet is he’d go directly to the problem; the bully. He would expose him for the fraud that he is. He would help other kids to learn to be resourceful too. Soon everyone would realize that the bully was a fraud. They would ignore his lies and his boasting. The bully would have little effect when he would lie about where the money was going, or take expensive vacations or keep kids from visiting the White House.

Well damn . . . there I go again.

Who's The Boss?

Bet you thought this would be an essay about Barack Obama. Not really. Who is the leader of the free world? Considering that the general consensus is that Valerie Jarrett gives Obama the OK on virtually every movement he makes, I think I am finally reaping the benefits of Logic 101 from my freshman college days. So why waste time writing about number two in command when we can go right to the top?

Iranian born Valerie Jarrett is the Senior Adviser to The President of the United States and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs. Huh? She got into the Chicago political machine in 1987, and never looked back.  Through her major areas of expertise (namely Leftist Theory), she has been able to steer President Obama in her drive towards “fundamentally transforming” the United States into a socialist oligarchy.  Beyond just being unpleasant, she is relentless, merciless and exceedingly demanding. In short, she’s no one to mess with.

So when she makes a statement, everyone listens. And a statement she made! It was just prior to the election. Even her closest staff were saying that they did not know how she could be so confident in the election going to Obama, but she was. She said:

“After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.”

Let’s take this apart a little.

“After we win this election, it’s our turn”. Excuse me but haven’t they been in office for 4 years?

“Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget”. Forget what? You guys have practically skated through the past 4 years without a scratch.

“The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay”. That’s the spirit! Forget uniting America. It’s divide and conquer at all costs. What a lovely lady.

“Congress won’t be a problem for us this time.” Wait just a damn minute! You sneaked through Congress the largest socialistic and economically crippling bill of all time and you think you had a problem?

“No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.” That you do, Ms. Chairman

If that kind of rhetoric does not make you wonder if the Republic (for which it stands) is now on life support, I don’t know what will convince you.

So, I’ll give it one parting shot. Four years from now is simply too late. Far more Americans will be depending on Government for their entire income. They are talking about the economic cliff today. What about the Freedom Cliff? When over 51% of the people depend on welfare for all their needs, they will never again vote to be free of the ties that bind.

Hope? There isn’t much. But, as I see it, we have one glimmer; the mid-term elections. If Americans who care about freedom fail to take the Senate and the House in 2 years, Valerie Jarrett and all the Socialist/Communists that follow behind her have won.

Damn . . . I need a drink.
